Introduction to Taro La Fortuna

Less is more

The Taro La Fortuna consists of twenty two picture cards corresponding
to the higher arcana or trump cards of a standard deck of tarot cards.
This is to avoid redundancy as the cards are strictly used for divinatory
purposes and not for playing card games as was, what we now know as
Tarot cards. In fact all decks of playing cards have been molded in shape
and design by the games that were played through out the history of their
development. Early versions of tarocchi decks had different numbers of
trump cards. As well the early trumps were unnumbered as their value
from one region to another in game were different.

The great wheel

This simplest symbol of the universe and all it contains is a simple circle.
The foundation for all things cyclic. Next it can be divided into segments
representing stations along the path of change. The cardinal directions
form points of opposition to each other. Things flow from one of these
points to the next and are altered by them. Water flows along the ground
but is opposed to the sky lest it be excited by fire and turns into a cloud.
All legitimate divinatory methods are based on the wheel of life. Form,
order and direction are expressed along the path of the wheel, along
with differential and potential. All that is needed to reflect the powers
that be in action. The Taro La Fortuna cards present a progression of
events, each giving rise to the next as we journey through life.

Reading the cards

Two cards are drawn at random the first representing the outer circle
and the second representing the inner circle. Both are necessary to
complete the whole. The meanings of each card is taken in turn to form
a statement.
